The Special Adviser to the Governor of Ekiti State on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola has called on Ekiti citizens, especially Persons With Disabilities as well as Teachers in the state special schools to visit the INEC centers to Register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards without delay.
The call, became imperative just as Ekiti Gubernatorial election timeline gets closer.
Speaking with Newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Princess Agboola explained that the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) remains the most powerful instrument in the hands of the electorate to make their voices heard in a democracy
The Special Adviser said, “I call on all Persons With Disabilities who have not collected their PVCs; those who applied for transfer or replacement of cards across the state to go and collect their PVCs at the designed locations in order to achieve our drive for political, educational, economic and social inclusion of PWDs through the ballot.
Princess Agboola also requested for priority consideration for PWDs during the registration and collection process in line with the provisions of the National Disability Act and INEC Framework on PWDs.
Describing Governor Biodun Oyebanji as a “Champion of Disability Inclusion” in Nigeria, the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion lauded the State’s Helmsman for his administration’s impactful policies and programs aimed at promoting inclusive education and supporting individuals with disabilities in the state.
She noted that the various reforms of the Governor have impacted positively on PWDs in the state, citing the establishment of Ekiti’s first therapy center in Ado-Ekiti, free sessions, meals, and transport for Persons with Disabilities. Upgrading of facilities at the state’s three special schools to global standards with cutting-edge equipment and trained specialists, start-up grants for PWDs, free access to healthcare service, preparation of students for national exams like WAEC and UME, with many securing university admissions as examples.
For the good works to continue, the Ijero Ekiti born Princess Agboola called on all eligible voters of the town and other citizens of the state to avail themselves the opportunity of the ongoing INEC Continuous Voters Registration Exercise and support the Continuity of the Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration till 2030 to enjoy more goodies of democracy.
