A member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly representing Moba constituency One, Honourable (Mrs) Abimbola Solanke has congratulated Muslims and Christians in her constituency, Ekiti State and Nigeria at large on the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan fast and Lenten season.
She described the coincidence of both spiritual exercises starting on the same day as a special blessing for the State and nation.
In a statement issued by her media office, Solanke extended warm felicitations to Muslims for witnessing the new month of Ramadan and successfully ushering in the 2026 fasting period.
She also identified with the Christian community on the commencement of this year’s Lent, which marks the beginning of the 40-day fasting and prayer.
Solanke described the simultaneous commencement of Ramadan and Lent as “beyond coincidence,” noting that it signifies greater blessings for the people of Moba land, Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
According to her, the period is special and significant for both Muslim and Christian faithful, and there is every need to appreciate God for the opportunity to witness the holy season.
The Ekiti Lawmaker called on residents of the state to use the period for sober reflection and to strengthen bonds of unity by identifying with one another during and beyond the fasting seasons.
Solanke enjoined both Muslims and Christians to offer fervent prayers for leaders at all levels to succeed in their responsibilities, and to pray for landslide victory of Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji in the forthcoming June 20, Gubernatorial election.
The lawmaker also appealed to well-to-do individuals to support the less privileged in society to enable them observe the fasting with ease, stressing the importance of charity and compassion during the holy period.
