Inner Wheel District 913 Nigeria has installed, Hon. (Mrs) Abimbola Solanke as its 38th District Chairman
Mrs Solanke who is the lawmaker representing Moba Constituency 1 at Ekiti State of House of Assembly took over from Mrs Folake Toriola whose one year tenure ended last June.
Other Executive members that will serve the organization in the next 2024/2025 year were, Olusola Idowu(1st Vice Chairman), Tinu Mosobalaje(2nd Vice District Chairman), Dolapo Oluwadsare(District Secretary), Mary Ogunleye(District Treasurer), Olanike Ogunronbi(District Editor), Dr. Olubsede Omolayo(District Webmaster) and Oluwatosin Kayode who is the District International Service Organiser(ISO)
The new District Chairman, who also installed other executive members in her acceptance speech, promised to lead with integrity and ensure all members were involved in activities during her one-year tenure.
Honourable Solanke said ”It is such a great privilege to serve as the Chairman and I am willing to provide this service with all my strenght and ability”.
The New Head of District 913 promised to justify the confidence reposed in her by ensuring that the one year tenure focuses majorly on caring for Women and Girls which She noted is also the social project of International Inner Wheel.
She explained that International Inner Wheel is one of the largest women voluntary organization with presence in about 103 countries of the world, adding that the charitable minded women who are in Nigeria has a membership list of over 150,000 in Nigeria alone. Solanke said further that the Organization centers its mandate on charity work across communities.
”We have 6 districts in Nigeria which are: 910, 911, 912, 913, 914, and 916 with a total membership of over a thousand women under district 913 alone cutting across Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Osun and Kwara States”.
Commenting, the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Peju Babefemi, congratulated the new District Chairman and urged her to build on her predecessor’s achievements.
Dr Abiodun-Oyebanji highlighted that the organization’s mandate aligns with her office’s vision of prioritizing women’s safety and empowerment, as well as promoting initiatives for the girl child.
Also, the wife of the former Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi commended Mrs. Solanke’s exemplary leadership and encouraged the district club to be an agent of societal change as the 2025 Beijing International Women’s Conference approaches.
Speaking on behalf of the International President, Mamta Gupta and Chairman of Council,Karin Uwaje, a National Representative, Mrs Funmi Ogunsi charged the new;y installed District Chairman and other Executive members to work in tandem with objectives of the organization by bringing respite to the hardship being faced by the less privilege and needy.
Awards of Excellence were presented to Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, Dr. Olayemi Abiodun-Oyebanji, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, and others.
As part of its humanitarian gesture, 15 students from various higher institutions were awarded cash gifts twenty five thousand each.
