Youths under the aegis of Ekiti All Progressives Congress(APC) Youth Concord from the 16 local government and 22 local council development areas(LCDA) in Ekiti State have backed the renomination of Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye to re-contest alongside Governor Biodun Oyebanji in 2026 Guber poll.
Speaking with Newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, the Coordinator, Barrister Foluso Kayode and Secretary, Mr Johnson Adebayo explained that the group passed a vote of confidence on the Deputy Governor whom they noted stands firm on her sterling performance in the last three and a half years as the number two citizen of the State.
According to the youths, “ Okinlua Afuye is a woman of strong character, ever straightforward, honest, reliable, firm, amiable, dependable and reliable.”
The Ekiti APC Youth Concord at the briefing affrimed that Okinlua Afuye is performing creditably well on most sensitive issues in the state, particularly that of chieftaincy, and She handled it with dexterity and capacity, mindful of the place of tradition in our society.”
They described Afuye as a loyal deputy Governor in whom His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji is well pleased, and called om those out of jealousy and selfishness chanting against her renomination to sheath their swords with immediate effect and embrace the good works being enjoyed under BAO/MCA Administration.
”The deputy governor matches the governor well, and there is no reason for anyone to call for her removal from office. as She remains the best option for APC on account of her unparalleled loyalty, political wizardry and vast knowledge of statutory duties attached to her office.” they concluded.
The group said it has been engaging eligible voters on the need to update their permanent voters cards (PVCs) in the forthcoming Continuous Voters Registration exercise to enable them exercise their franchise in the 2026 Guber poll.
Acknowledging the recent Statewide endorsement of BAO/MCA for the second term, the APC Youth Concord the event has sent a clear message to all Ekiti citizens that victory is on the horizon for the APC in the July 20 governorship election.
