A member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, Hon. Akinlayo Kolawole Davidson, has denied allegations linking him with plans to sponsor thugs to disrupt the forthcoming All Progressives Congress, APC, National Assembly primary election in Ekiti State.
The lawmaker described the allegation as false, malicious and politically motivated, insisting that he had no connection with any act capable of undermining peace and credibility within the party ahead of the primary.
In a statement dated May 15, 2025, Hon. Akinlayo said the allegation was the handiwork of desperate political detractors bent on tarnishing his image and hard earned reputation.
He stated that he remained committed to democratic values, peaceful coexistence and transparent electoral processes within the APC, stressing that he had consistently advocated violence free politics.
The statement partly read, “We wish to categorically state that this allegation is entirely false, misleading, and the handiwork of desperate political detractors who are bent on tarnishing the hard earned reputation of the lawmaker.
“Hon. Akinlayo Kolawole Davidson is a committed democrat, a peaceful leader, and a loyal party man who has consistently advocated for credible, transparent, and violence free electoral processes within the APC and beyond.”
The federal lawmaker further maintained that at no point had he encouraged, financed or associated himself with any act aimed at causing unrest or disrupting activities before, during or after the primary election.
He noted that his focus remained on strengthening internal democracy within the APC and ensuring that all aspirants and party members conducted themselves responsibly throughout the electoral process.
Hon. Akinlayo therefore urged party members, supporters and the general public to disregard the allegation in its entirety, describing it as a figment of the imagination of those seeking cheap political advantage through misinformation and character assassination.
He also called on security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure that anyone attempting to incite violence or spread falsehood capable of creating tension within the party was investigated and brought to justice.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to peace, progress and the continued development of Ekiti North Federal Constituency II and Ekiti State at large.
