The Olukere of Ikere, Odo-Oja, Ikere Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba Ayodele Obasoyin, has felicitated with the people of Ekiti State on the 30th anniversary of the state’s creation, paying tribute to the founding fathers for their efforts in achieving the dream of an autonomous Ekiti State.
Oba Obasoyin, in a congratulatory message made available to journalists in Ikere-Ekiti, said the creation of Ekiti State on October 1, 1996, had provided a platform for the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the state.
The monarch commended successive administrations for their contributions to the growth of the state, noting that Ekiti had recorded significant progress in critical sectors over the past three decades.
He particularly cited developments in education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, skills acquisition and the growth of small and medium-scale enterprises as areas where the state had made considerable strides.
Oba Obasoyin also acknowledged the challenges faced by the state at its creation, especially limited financial resources and inadequate infrastructure, saying the level of development recorded over the years represented a significant transformation.
The Olukere commended the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for its development agenda and called on the people of Ekiti to continue to support initiatives aimed at accelerating sustainable development.
He urged the people to use the 30th anniversary to reflect on the journey so far, appreciate the sacrifices of the founding fathers and renew their commitment to the collective progress of the state.
The monarch said the anniversary was not only a celebration of three decades of statehood but also an opportunity to honour those who worked tirelessly for the creation of Ekiti State from the old Ondo State.
He congratulated Governor Oyebanji, traditional rulers, residents and all indigenes of the state, expressing optimism that Ekiti would continue to make progress in the years ahead.
