The Chairman of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs Rhoda Ojo, has commended the sacrifices and contributions of the founding fathers of Ekiti State towards the creation of the state on October 1, 1996.
Ojo said the creation of Ekiti State had provided the people with greater opportunities for development and self-determination, noting that the state might have remained part of the old Ondo State without the courage and determination demonstrated by the founding fathers.
The TESCOM Chairman also paid tribute to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who served as Secretary of the committee that championed the creation of Ekiti State, saying the vision and aspirations of the founding fathers were gradually being realised under the present administration.
She commended Governor Oyebanji for his various initiatives aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of the state, stressing that critical sectors, particularly education, had witnessed significant attention and progress under his administration.
According to her, the achievements recorded in the education sector reflect the administration’s commitment to strengthening human capital development and creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning.
Ojo also congratulated Ekiti teachers on the 30th anniversary of the state, commending them for their resilience, dedication and commitment to ensuring quality education and nurturing the future generation of Ekiti citizens.
She urged teachers to sustain their professionalism and continue to support the state government’s efforts to improve the standard of education across the state.
The TESCOM Chairman congratulated the people of Ekiti State on the milestone anniversary, expressing optimism that the state would continue to witness greater development and prosperity in the years ahead.
