As the administration of Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji nearing two years in office, Infrastructure and Industralization which is agenda 5 is becoming visible with execution of lots of road projects across the state.
This was part of the state government’s commitment to ensure that all ongoing road construction and reconstruction works are completed in record time for easy movement of goods and services across the state.
The reconstruction of 19.5km EKSU/Iworoko/Ifaki Ekiti roundabout dual carriage way being executed by Habib Construction Company is one of the toplist projects of the BAO Administration. The federal road which had been abandoned for years back was taken over by the present State Government as part of moves to ensure motorable roads in the state.
Speaking with Government House Correspondents at the Project site, the Project Manager of Immobiliare Construction Company Limited, Mr Habib Mourad said a soil test had earlier being carried out before the commencement of the project adding that the quality materials are being used to ensure that the road structure stands the test of time.
He said further that a lane of the dual carriage way had been fixed to engender easy vehicular passage while assuring that the second lane would be deliver as scheduled latest April 2025 with necessary materials injected if payment is constantly made.
Governor Oyebanji is making another history in his road revolution pursuit under Rural Access Agricultural and Marketing Project (RAAMP) to improve agricultural infrastructure, enhance rural connectivity and boost food production. One of the major handlers of this road revolution is Hallekem Construction Company which is currently executing the 8.68km Are-Oye Ekiti road project.
A visit of State House Correspondents to the site along Are/Oye Ekiti axis revealed that the project is ongoing with workers seeing on site working assidously to ensure the timely completion of the project. The earthworks, bush clearing have been done, while construction of the two side drainages are ongoing.
Fakere Rufus-Project Engineer, Ndu Anazodo-Site Engineer and Head of Human Resources and Admin, Mr Tope Johnson in separate interviews said the road is properly being fixed in phases with standard materials in tandem with government’s specification and the company’s policy to deliver quality works that would last longer.
Commenting on the local content law instituted by the state government, the trio explained that most of the skilled laborers engaged are Ekiti residents, while assuring that more workers will be incorporated as the project goes further.
They observed that leaders of the community had been cooperating with the construction company towards the success of the project.
During the project tour, some farmers, pedestrians and commercial motorcylists commended the road revolution of the Oyebanji’s government which they affirmed would ease the transportation to town and as well boost economic activities in both Are and Oye Ekiti.
