Residents of Ikole, Ikoyi, Isaba and Igbemo Ekiti have lauded the Roads Connectivity Strategy of Governor Biodun Oyebanji which has becomes reflected in the local communities.
The people gave the commendations during a visit of News Correspondents to the 19.7km ongoing road constructions linking the 4 communities.
Roads are crucial for community development, facilitate economic growth, social connectivity, and access to essential services.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji during his recent inspection of road projects across the state restated his administration’s commitment to making life bearable for residents by ensuring easy transportation of farm produces and provision of other basic amenities to enable them enjoy the results of their votes.
A visit to the 19.7km Ikole/Ikoyi/Isaba/Igbemo ongoing road construction being executed by the State Government through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Programme (RAAMP) shows the visibility impact of Governor Oyebanji at reconnecting the road as the project reached 13km with Asphalt, while line drains, bridges are being constructed at critical areas to forestall flooding.
Residents including farmers of the benefiting communities including commuters among whom were Messrs Adebayo Adegboye, Tunde Aluko, Yinusa Sanni, Lateef Abdulahi, narrated the hardships faced in years past and thanked Governor Oyebanji for the intervention which according to them will engender easy vehicular movement of those plying the route and also help farmers convey their goods to the market.
Journalists came across a palm oil processing factory situated along Ikoyi Ekiti/Igbemo road where production was on a high side during the project inspection as workers of the factory were full of appreciation to Governor Oyebanji saying the road reconstruction has brought back many of their wandered off customers.
They called on government to instill strict measures on the road to prevent it from being damaged especially by heavy duty trucks.
The Managing Director, Delko Holdings Construction company handling the Igbemo/Ikole road Project, Mr Femi Aluko -an Engineer explained that the ongoing project has reached over 13km, saying the workforce is working tirelessly to ensure the use of quality materials, technical specifications and its timely completion.
The Contractor who lauded the cooperation of the community people on the project execution, assured both the government and residents of long term integrity of the road, while urging dweller to take ownership
The Ikole/Ikoyi/Isaba/Igbemo road is one of many road projects being executed courtesy of the Oyebanji’s administration to accelerate the pace of economic development, connect individuals to jobs, markets, healthcare, boost agricultural production and ensuring overall community well-being.
