Barely two weeks into the INEC Continuous Voters Registration exercise nationwide, farmers in Ekiti State have been called upon to participate in the process to enable them exercise their franchise in the forthcoming Governorship election slated for June 20, 2026 in the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade disclosed this during an interview with Newsmen in Ado Ekiti.
Boluwade said Agriculture remains a critical sector in Ekiti State, serving as a vital source of income and employment for the majority of its population and driving the state’s economic development and food security efforts.
Re-emphasizing the need for mass participation of farmers in the ongoing exercise, Boluwade urged all famers indigenes and residents of Emure Ekiti his native home to update their Permanent Voters Card without further delay.
He called on members from different farmers Association which included, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Poultry Association of Nigeria(PANEK), Cassava Growers Association, Cocoa Farmers Association, Sheep and Goat Association, Yam and Cocoa Association, Rice Association, Fisheries and Aquaculture Association amongst others to support the current Agricultural development initiatives of the Biodun Oyebanji led administration which are evident in the sector.
“Our strongest weapon is our Permanent Voter’s Card. APC is not just a party, it is a Progressives one, we should all throw our weight behind it.”
He maintained that the state government is actively transforming agriculture into a business and prioritizing it through programs that support farmers, improve livestock quality, reduce food waste, and attract investment in the sector.
The Agriculture Commissioner sought more support for the Governor who has improve the state’s economy through his Shared Prosperity Mantra, saying there is need to sustain the tempo till 2030 to engender more goodies of government.
