Indications have emerged that a ransom was paid to kidnappers before the pupils and teachers of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure Ekiti, Nigeria could regain their freedom in the early hours of Sunday.
Parents and other relatives of the victims, who spoke to THE REPORTERS, said the kidnappers freed the abductees after cthe sum of N15m and other items including fried rice, cigarettes, malt drinks and energy drinks were given
The Proprietor of the school, Mr Gabriel Adesanya also confirmed that a ransom was paid, but declined on the exact amount collected by the Kidnappers.
It would be recalled that the five pupils, three teachers and their driver were ambushed on their way home between Emure and Eporo village last week Monday. This incident coincided with the killing of two traditional rulers in the state same day
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji was at the State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti to see the Victims where they are receiving Medical treatments and assured that the perpetrators of the crime would be fished out and punished accordingly.
It would be recalled that the Governor had last week Wednesday visited the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, National Security Adviser to the President, Nuhu Ribadu and DG, DSS to fashion out ways to stem the tide of insecurity in the state.
