The Olukere of Ikere, Odo Oja, Ikere local government, Oba Abdulganiyu Ayodele OBASOYIN has applauded the approval of the establishment of a new military Base (COAS) reserve bn 111.(148 battalion) in Ikere Ekiti, saying the move will further sustain the prevalence of peace being experience in the community and other parts of the state.
Answering questions from Journalists on the latest feat that avails the community, Oba Obasoyin noted that citing of the military base will address security challenges not only in the southern part but across nooks and crannies of Ekiti State.
Olukere who emphasized that security is vital for economic activities, lauded the Army for playing a critical role in the nation and sub nationals security apparatus.
Saying clashes between farmers and herders on invasion of farm crops, kidnapping, armed robbery and other nefarious acts are factors that threaten peace and socio economic development of any aspiring society, the Monarch observed that the full military operations would deter criminals from the axis and as well make them respond swiftly to emergency cases.
“Ikere community receive the news of this military barracks with joy, and will do all possible means to support the permanency of Nigerian Army Barrack in our dear community.”
Olukere thanked the Ikere Ekiti born Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for the approval of the military base in the community and called on other well meaning Indigenes in top positions to follow suit and facilitate additional multiple faceted developments to the town.
He said Ikere Ekiti is next to Ado, the state capital considering many factors, adding that its geographical location and population necessitated not only infrastructure but also security for the people at all times.
He promised the cooperation and support of Ikere people for the Nigerian Army to discharge their constitutional duties optimally and seamlessly.
“I urge military officers that will be deployed at the take off of the base to continue the good work they are doing and ensure that the peace being enjoyed in the state continues to thrive. Let me assure the Nigerian Army we will support them with necessary logistics needed, Olukere assured.”
