As the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, continues with its Continuous Voters Registration, CVR exercise across the country, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission(TESCOM), Mrs Rhoda Ojo has urged all teachers, TESCOM Staff and other relevant stakeholders in the education sector in the state to seize the opportunity to get registered.
Mrs Rhoda Ojo who noted that the conduct of the exercise has began both online and physically in INEC designated centers across various local councils, added that this platform will avail the teachers who are currently on holiday to register afresh, update their records, and transfer their Permanent Voters’ Card, PVC, to their nearest polling unit.
The TESCOM Boss who was speaking during an exclusive interview with theReportersNG Correspondent in Ado Ekiti, urged students who are just attaining 18 years of age but have not yet registered to do so as Ekiti Governorship election draws closer.
According to Mrs Ojo ‘’The CVR allows them to renew defaced, damaged, or lost PVCs, transfer to new polling units, and register for the first time for those yet to be registered.’’
The Ikere born educationist who stressed the need why Ekiti teachers and others in the sector should get fully involved in the CVR exercise said, only through the PVCs will they be able to support the continuity drive of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration which has significantly improve the standard of Education in the state till 2030.
The TESCOM Chairman said , “I want to use this medium to call on teachers, TESCOM Staff and students of voting age in Ekiti State to come out and partake in the ongoing INEC PVC’s collection exercise which is the only opportunity for every voter to be eligible during the coming election in Ekiti as without the card, you will not be allowed to vote that day.
“Any Student from the age of 18 male or female in our schools should ensure they are not left out of the exercise”, Rhoda Ojo added.
