As part of her focus to strengthening community safety and supporting law enforcement agencies, the Executive Chairman of Ikole West LCDA, Honourable Mosunmola Adeyemo has distributed security kits to the traditional local hunters and direct empowerment to officers and those in the sister agencies manning the council area.
Presenting the kits which included, boots touch lights, uniforms for local hunters and cash empowerment at the local council headquarters in Usin Ekiti, Honourable Adeyemo explained that the initiative was another strategy to further complement the efforts of Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji at ensuring adequate provision of lives and property of citizenry particularly people resident at Ikole West Local Council Development area.
The ceremony held at the headquarters of the local council, had representatives of the various outfits such as Nigeria Police, DSS, Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC), South West security network popularly called Amotekun, Peace corps, management and staff of the local council as well the Obaloke of Igbona Ekiti, Oba Johnson Oladele in attendance.
Adeyemo acknowledged the efforts of the various security agencies which She said had sustained the prevailing peace being enjoyed in the area, urging them not to renege from their mandates.
The Ikole West LCDA Chairman also assured the heads of the security agencies of prompt support while charging them to redouble their efforts for optimal delivery.
Honourable Adeyemo also called on the Police, Department of State Security, NDLEA to collaborate with the local hunters in the area.
The Divisional Police Officer(DPO) in Ikole, CSP Afe Mayowa thanked the council chairman for the gesture with a promise that security personnel will work together to fortify the area against marauders.
CSP Afe also who observed that the provision of uniforms for local hunters was another means of identification of the personnel, urged them not to go beyond the scope of their work.
The DPO assured the local hunters of further training by his division to enhance their job performance.
Also appreciating Honourable Adeyemo for the provision of the tool kits and financial empowerment, the leader of the local hunters, Emmanuel Oguntoye promised that the hunters will discharge their duties accordingly.
