RECOUNT God’s Works, Fajobi Urges Ekiti People at Evening of Praise

A Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and Commissioner in charge of Human Resources Management at the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB), (Dr.) Olufunke Fajobi has urged the people of the State to continually recount and testify to the goodness of God in their lives and the state, saying recognition of divine blessings would strengthen their faith and inspire greater commitment to the development of the state.

Fajobi gave the charge while delivering a sermon titled “Recount His Works” at the September edition of the Evening of Praise, held at Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado-Ekiti last Friday.

The programme was attended by the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji; his Deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye; and other top government functionaries, political associates and clerics.

Taking her text from Psalm 9:1, which says, “I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds,” Fajobi said to recount was to count again, remember and openly declare the works of God.

She observed that people were often quick to recount their problems while forgetting the numerous blessings they had received, urging the congregation to deliberately focus on God’s faithfulness.

According to her, familiarity and excessive concentration on challenges were among the reasons people often forget God’s benefits, stressing that believers must heed the warning in Psalm 103:2: “Forget not all his benefits.”

Fajobi said there was a need for the people of Ekiti to recount the blessings of God upon the state, noting that the state had recorded significant progress over the years despite its limited resources.

The Pastor said the people should use their voices to acknowledge and speak about the goodness of God in Ekiti, particularly the development recorded in recent years.

She therefore urged the people of Ekiti to make thanksgiving a lifestyle as the state approaches its 30th anniversary, saying the milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on God’s faithfulness and recount His works in the state’s journey.

Fajobi also acknowledged what she described as significant progress under the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, urging those occupying positions of authority to recognise that their positions were ultimately made possible by God.

She admonished public officials and other beneficiaries of God’s grace not to become proud of their positions but to demonstrate gratitude through their conduct and service to humanity.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji in his remarks expressed gratitude to God for His guidance and sustenance of the administration over the last tfour years, attributing the achievements recorded by his administration across critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare and agriculture, to divine guidance and intervention.

Oyebanji assured Ekiti People of Greater Development during his second term and sought their continous prayers as it prepares to enter another phase of governance on October 16, 2026.

He said the administration would continue to seek God’s wisdom and direction in its efforts to improve the welfare of the people and position Ekiti for greater development.
