The Contractor handling the second flyover bridge in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital, STEP Development Limited has reassured the Ekiti state government and people that the project will be completed within the stipulated 24 months.
The 1.1km flyover bridge construction between Union Bank at Ijigbo and First bank, Okeyinmi area was approved by Governor Biodun Oyebanji about 10 months ago with a view to ease traffic gridlock, improve socioeconomic activities of the areas and make lives and property of people more secure on the roads and add aesthetic value to the state capital.
The Project Manager of Step Development Limited, Engineer David Sanni who was speaking with Journalists at the project site in Ado Ekiti explained that the foundation stage is 98 percent completed, adding that the latest stage was putting up of the various elements like cross brims which will be launched on the gather brims.
He maintaned that all efforts are being put in place to ensure that the flyover project is delivered in November 2025 as scheduled.
According to him, ”we are confidence of meeting up the 24 months duration because we are not just working without direction nor plan. From the beginning we’ve laid down our programs and so far we are in tandem with that programs and that is why are confident that we will be able to meet up”.
Commenting on the local content policy instituted by Governor, the Project Manager said the Construction had embraced the policy since the start of the project, as it tends to minimize capital flight and to upgrade the skilled labourers in the state.
He added that the initiative has increased the workforce of the construction company with the engagement of local laborers and core staffs while majority of the supplies were being procured locally.
Mr Sanni assured that STEP Development which constructed the Lagos Oyingbo bridge and also executing the ongoing Ikere/Igbara-Odo road project would maintain its standards in Ekiti with injections of materials that will stand the test of time.
Corroborating, the Project Engineer, Mr Olugbenga Gbadamosi explained that all the elements from the foundation stage were tested by necessary bodies and supervising ministry to ascertain their durability and assured that the bridge would last more than 50 years after which it will only require the maintenance of the expansion joints.
Traders, Commuters and pedestrians lauded Governor Oyebanji for the giant strides to beautify the capital city and as well ease the traffic jam being experienced on a daily basis in the capital city.
