Ahead of the 2026 Gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, the All Progressives Congress(APC) Like-Mind at Odose Ward 11 in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his Deputy, Chief Monisade Afuye and therefore endorsed the duo for second term in office
The endorsement followed a meeting of leaders and members of the ward held on Tuesday at Odo Oja in Ikere Ekiti.
The extended meeting which could be described as a carnival like was attended by the Chairman of Ikere local Government, Mr Olu Adamolekun, his counterpart from Ikere West LCDA, Hon. Rufus Ige, Vice Chairman, Ikere Local Government, Chief Tope Ijasan, APC Chairman in Ikere Ekiti, Mr Kayode Oyebode, Councilors, former Ekiti State lawmakers who included, Honorables Sunday Akinniyi(Gbosa), Bolu Komolafe and Sunday Adu. leaders of transport unions, artisans and market traders.
Speaking at the gathering, the Convener and Coordinator of APC Like-Mind for Oyebanji and Afuye till 2030, Barrister, Kayode Foluso explained that the achievements recorded so far by present administration particularly in Ikere Ekiti necessitated their move which they affirmed has improve the socio economic and living standard of residents
Reacting on whether opposition party will have way in the 2026 election, Barrister Kayode noted that the name ”opposition” was in paper and not in practice. ”when we are facing a situation, we call something, theory and another practical, theoretically, they might be saying there is an opposition, but in practice, practically speaking now, we don’t have an opposition. APC is on ground, BAO/MCA for sure” Barrister Kayode declares.
He cited examples to include road infrastructure, saying the Odo-Oja/Moshood/ Council secretariat road linking Araromi to Ise Junction which had been in deplorable state had been duly rehabilitated and now motorable, while efforts are ongoing through BAO/MCA initiative to ensure adequate provision of portable waster which he assured will gets to every neighborhood in Ikere Ekiti.
The APC Like-Mind Coordinator commended the State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye for representing the community well. saying her numerous empowerment initiatives for Ikere residents including the aged and widows speak volume.
Corroborating, the Secretary of BAO/MCA Like-Mind in Odose ward, Mr Oluwafemi Leke, Vice Chairman, Ikere Local Government, Chief Tope who is from the ward including the Deputy Chief Whip and Councilor representing the ward, Honorable Felix Olowoyo, SA IGR, Mrs Adebayo Adesola-Alonge, Ward Chairman, Mr Taiwo Yusuf and a former member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Honorable Sunday Akinniyi fondly called ”Gbosa” said APC remains a formidable party in the town, saying all strategies are being evolved to win hands down come 2026 governorship poll.
They expressed satisfaction with the leadership style of Governor Oyebanji and his deputy which has brought unity among party faithful across the state, the replica of this they noted has been extended by them to the ward.
X-raying the voting strength of the ward in Ikere, the party stalwarts pointed out that APC had never been defeated during past elections, with a promise to sustain the tempo in subsequent ones.
Other speakers at the meeting including the two council chairmen, Olu Adamolekun and Rufus Ige called on members of the party to continue to propagate the gospel of Oyebanji and Afuye across the nooks and crannies of the town to enjoy more goodies from the present administration.
Highpoint of the meeting was the endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy Chief Monisade Afuye for another term in office, a motion moved by Honorable Sunday Akinniyi and seconded by the duo of Hon. (Chief) Tope Ijasan and Barrister Kayode Foluso.
