The Executive Chairman, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board(EKSUBEB), Professor Femi Akinwumi has applauded the three years of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration as “impactful”, adding that it “evokes signs of better things to come”
Congratulating the Governor on his third anniversary in office, Professor Akinwumi stated that: “His Excellency, Biodun Oyebanji has changed the facelift of Education sector in the state with lots significant development recorded to aid effective teaching and learning across various public schools.’’
According to the SUBEB Chairman, the Governor had been magnanimous in the prompt payment of teachers salaries, arrears, leave bonuses, gratuity and pensions, renovation of schools, establishment of basic schools to address issue of Out of School Children, recruitment of over 1,500 primary school teachers, capacity building, payment of counterpart funds for UBEC/SUBEB projects, 250 schools benefitting in Infrastructural facilities.
Other achievements of Governor Oyebanji in the education sector included, provision of car and housing loans, upgrading of graduate teachers in primary schools to grade level 16, payment of exams fees, approval of 65 years retirement age for public teachers, approval of 2024/2025 promotion for eligible officers amongst others.
Akinwumi said “I am particularly happy that our amiable and teachers -friendly Governor is walking the talk by ensuring that education takes its pride of place among the comity of states in the country.
He commended Oyebanji for keeping to him promise as encapsulated in his Shared Prosperity Mantra by doing more in other sectors and giving Ekiti people hope of more economic and social progress.”
He stated further, ‘’I want to thank our ever pragmatic and dynamic Governor who has given us an enabling environment for teachers to perform their duties optimally, he has put smiles on their faces and they now behave like Kings; because they now earn adequate salaries, leave bonuses are now being paid, this is the first time primary school teachers will be attaining grace level 16 and first time in primary school teachers will be getting Car loan, about 4,000 chairs set for distribution across schools.’’
The Ekiti SUBEB Boss expressed confidence in Governor Oyebanji’s government to deliver on the people’s expectations and advised him not to rest on his oars but continue with the fervour with which he commenced his administration three years ago.
He assured him that school teachers in the state will reciprocate the gesture with massive votes culminating into victory in next year’s Ekiti gubernatorial election.
